A safe is a safe right? When you dig into just about any topic regarding an item that is engineered, you quickly realize there are far more options than you could have ever thought possible.
For an example, we all see semi-trucks towing their trailer full of whatever product is in it ranging from gasoline to stuffed toys to cars. Would you believe there are over 2000 variations on a trailer depending on what it is supposed to carry?
Similarly with safes, one size does not fit all. Sure most of us are familiar with the big safe in the bank or the standard 1-3 foot tall safe and the wall safe because we see all of those in movies and TV shows. There are jewelry safes, burglar safes, fire safes, gun safes, high security safes, depository safes, wall safes, floor safes, fire resistant file cabinets, computer media or data safes, small safes and being safe at home plate in baseball.
Okay, that last one is more of an action than an item but you get the point. But just like a company specializing in semi-truck trailers or baseball players become very good in their select field, there are companies like the one in the link that excel in the area of safes. There is no need for me to belabor the point except for me to say the best source of the information is found on the link above.
Now there are a few things I would really like to see in a safe. I would eventually like to see more security systems implanted in a safe to make them more dangerous to thieves. For example, the combination or other locking mechanism can have a backup such as voice recognition, optical recognition or something similar or the incorrect answer gets you a nice electrical jolt. Not strong enough to kill but the equivalent of a taser level would be awesome.
Worst case scenario is you botch up getting into your own safe then learn a lesson the hard way to always remember the correct procedure to open it up.
