Austrian Economics vs. Keynesian Economics

So what is Austrian Economics and Keynesian Economics? Well, let me start with Austrian Economics. It is being talked about in the media focusing on the Economic problems in the USA and by extension the world.

credits:www.mises.orgThere are many polar opposites in this world and the USA has more than its share of them. You have the Broadway Musical CATS which is popular for the song “Memories” while you have Britney Spears who is popular for her mammaries. You have Humanism being promoted in the public schools, universities and media as something good when it advocates not following laws or morality while Christianity is deemed bad when it is for following laws and morality. Then you have Austrian Economics and its counterpart Keynesian Economics trying to co-exist in the USA at the same time.

You won’t find Britney doing CATS anytime soon. Humanism and Christianity are polar opposites. Austrian Economics and Keynesian Economics cannot coexist with one being grounded in reality and the other so out of touch that it needs to be sent to its room and be permanently grounded.

I am not going to go into the details on what Austrian Economics and Keynesian Economics are but I can direct you to sources that can. I am working my way through all of this information so I can best understand who is telling the truth, who is lying, and who is talking but has no clue what they are talking about. It is important that we know these terms as they keep popping up in discussions on topics regarding the global economy, the decisions of the USA Federal Government, and the current financial crisis and housing crisis.

Generally speaking, Austrian Economics focuses on an economy driven by saving money which is in turn used by private banks to fund industrial and business development. It recognizes that the economy is so incredibly complex that no government can adequately account for all of the factors and government intervention is likely to cause many bad chain reactions. It strongly advocates the Free Enterprise System with limited or no government intervention. The markets will handle themselves. In other words, what is commonly known as laissez-fair capitalism.

Agape Love

[ad#square]

Agape love or it is pronounced a-gap-ae love is not a traditional form of love but the kind spelled out in the Bible and sorely lacking by those in government. Agape love is sacrificial love.

As the link defines it:

“Jesus gave the parable of the Good Samaritan as an example of sacrifice for the sake of others, even for those who may care nothing at all for us, or even hate us, as the Jews did the Samaritans. Sacrificial love is not based on a feeling, but a determined act of the will, a joyful resolve to put the welfare of others above our own.”

So what does this mean and how does it interact with the Health theme week?

First, it is incredibly challenging to do for those who hate you or care nothing for you at all. It is one thing to help and sacrifice for others who do not know you but those who hate and try to destroy you is hard. I am not talking about open warfare like Radical Islam or atheists who try to use this against you but more on the personal level. There are some individuals out there that just get their joy out of making the lives of others a living hell.

They are some sick, evil and twisted individuals. Hopefully, you do not have one of them in your life. I do and it isn’t fun.

There is another aspect to this and it is the willingness to serve even when you know it will cause you emotional and especially physical pain. This is something that you may be forced to endure so another can have a chance to heal and recover. In a way, this is acting like a shield for that person or individuals so they can get back on their feet.

My husband and I are faced with that situation. He did it once before when there were many family emergencies. This time though, he has his own injuries and I may like helping but I don’t have his raw physical power. I don’t mind getting sore or getting some injuries here or there. It hurts me more to see him in pain.

But it is a pain he will gladly endure for those who need his help when no one else can or will help. I wish I could take some of it from him. I know I can’t but he inspires me to continue to reach out and help others.

Hopefully, you have someone in your life who is a role model of what a kind heart is. Hopefully, you have your role model of someone who is one part steel and one part velvet.

Thank you and enjoy your weekend,

Anah

Elephant Feet – Did You Know?

[ad#inlinkunit]

When we think of an elephant, we picture those largest of the remaining land animals pretty much getting its way in the wild. Couldn’t anything that big trample you with ease? Of course they could but the tusks are usually the primary choice of weaponry for them.

Their feet actually are one of the most sensitive parts on their body. Unlike our feet, they actually have a slant to their foot. They walk on their tip toes and their toenails get clipped just by the standard wear and tear of walking around. The largest part of their foot is a pouch or packet of a special kind of fat.

This fat is called “acoustic fat” because it can pick up sound waves much easier. In the case of elephants, they can sense seismic waves with quite a high degree of accuracy. If you like reading a lot of details, please check out this detailed report here or this one here.

One of the things that always amaze me is how quick animals react to or react long before a natural disaster hits. If it is an earthquake or tidal wave, they are long gone from the area to be impacted before it hits. This ability of the elephant is right in line with the amazing intricacy of nature in how information is communicated whether it is weather related or predator related.

The bottom line is the more we know about this world and this universe the more we find out we really do not know much at all.

Thank you,

Anah
