Continuing the Flashbacks

If Otso Otso or the Ketchup Dance did not take you back a few years to fond memories, this entry will. I know this brought back a few memories for me and a lot for my hubby. What am I talking about? The Classic Games most everyone who has played games knows about. These are the games that started the video game console system craze.

So join us in an Atari Flashback and relive playing Pong, Missile Commander, River Raid, Centipede and Pitfall! Do you remember those? I know I mostly do but I was born in the early ‘80’s so give me a little break. I was not even 10 years old when they were the most popular.

But let me share a little detail about my hubby. He definitely knows all of these games as he bought most of them and still has them. Helping out his parents to clean the little used areas uncovered the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, and many games to go with it. Do they still work? We have no idea. But we would love to play them again for the sheer nostalgia.

However, I would like to have someone else come up and play against me on some of these games. Goryo always beats me.

If you want to see the controllers and buttons you used to play way back when, use the controller you have in your hand now and click that button.

Sounds of Staycation

What is a staycation? It is a lot like a vacation but with a difference. Vacation has the root word vacate or ‘to leave’. Vacations are when you get time off from work to leave work behind and go somewhere else that is not your home.

A staycation is when you really do not want to spend all of that gas money to go somewhere and instead you choose to stay home and relax. Maybe get that one room cleaned you’ve never had time for.

Whether it is cleaning that nightmare room or kicking back and relaxing on a hammock, you need to include your tunes to not get too bored. That is why having a high definition radio with a continual supply of new radio stations comes in truly valuable.

But we all know that there is one level better than just turning on a radio to a station we hope will play what we like. It is called that beautiful little thing called an iPod. Linking your iPod to your computer and using the Apple program called iTunes enables you to do iTunes Tagging or basically set the music you would like to play while you play, work or rest.

So what will you do on your staycation?

Memories of Home

[ad#txt-ad]

On this day of Family Matters, I thought I would revisit something that both bring back a lot of smiles to my face and just a few tears.

What smiles are brought back? First is the remembering of just how life is in the Philippines. Anytime there was that infectious song on the radio, many people at the beach, mall and especially at home would break into the dance that came with the song. This Ketchup Dance is no different. I can remember the fun we had around Christmas as the song played and my younger cousins broke into dance.

There is just no end to the memories. Especially the memories of watching my brother do the dances with me. Outside of my hubby, my brother is my best male friend and I’m proud to say he is my brother. Not everyone can be as lucky. Now if you are wondering why I smile at those memories, you’ll just have to keep on wondering unless you know him and can get him to dance for you. Hehehe!

But now that I have written fondly of my memories of back in the Philippines, I have gone and made myself a bit homesick. Sigh…I need my new pillow to console me.
