What Christmas Means to Us. What about You? Part II

Continuation of What Christmas Means to Us…

My hubby’s siblings are not close. So we spend the holiday with his Mom and Dad and the pet cat Boots (pusa). Rarely do his siblings and their kids come over while we are there. Long I have missed the days of all of the Aunts, Uncles, brothers, sisters, cousins and people you have no idea who they are showing up to a celebration. It doesn’t happen here for us. True, some families do that but that isn’t the case with us. Any big celebration in Wisconsin has to be done indoors or you might freeze your nose off.

What does Christmas mean to us? We are a Filipino American couple that either by circumstance or choice follows the traditions of neither but has made our own. Yes, we do take advantage a bit of sleeping in a tad. But we spend the day thankful for another year with his parents being alive. We thank the Lord for his gift of his Son and the example given.

We are thankful to be together and look forward to the trials to come. The trials we have received have helped us grow strong and close together as life continue on. Do we exchange gifts? Not really, but I get my annual (tsokolate hehe) Toblerone and Orange chocolate. My daughter gets a few items to guide her interests and my hubby takes a break from cooking.

The greatest gifts we give to each other are done every day. We smile and love each other. Christmas gives us a day to reflect on the gifts of the year and see how we have grown through the guidance of God.

Merry Christmas to All! Maligayang Pasko sa inyung lahat! Hug your hubby extra long tonight!

Thank you,
