The standard treatment is about the same in both countries of the bones need to be manipulated back into proper alignment. In the Philippines, this is done with a series of massages from your nanay or tatay or manghihilot hehe.

In the USA, going to a Chiropractic doctor for about 2-3 months does the trick. You might get a little extra money for time off of work but most people can work through it. It hurts but you grit or clench your teeth and bear it.

However, there are some truly bad accidents. In two people we know of, the issues did go to court and amounts of $500,000 and $300,000 were awarded because of the extent of the injury.

The $500,000 award went to a guy who was a passenger of a friend’s vehicle. The friend was driving at triple the speed limit with this guy unbuckled in the back seat. The guy was launched forward like a human dart into the windshield. He was lucky to survive but suffered permanent shoulder and brain damage.

The $300,000 award went to the child of a different guy. This guy was also in the car with a friend but the friend was drunk. The accident left this child (a baby) without a father as the guy died in the accident. The friend is in jail for killing this guy.

These amounts do seem large and there are some who try to trick the insurance companies into paying out large amounts. There is a name for that in the USA. It is called Insurance Fraud and is often a felony crime as defined by the State.

The problem here is if you were the person to trust someone driving a car you owned and that someone tried to defraud the insurance company, you can be sued by the insurance company because of the fraud. After all, you are the owner.
