Another Reason to Homeschool

Unsocialized homeschoolers on board!

If you have followed my blog, my husband and I are very much in favor of homeschooling over the public schools for many, many reasons. This is an example why.

In a small Wisconsin town named Blanchardville, Wis., population 806, an English teacher got the approval of the Principal to introduce these questions for a discussion on “tolerance” at the senior level. All of this was deemed part of a “comprehensive curriculum in critical thinking skills, preparing the students to make decisions on their own in college and beyond.” One parent took exception to these as her son was thoroughly disturbed that he was forced to answer them.

Here are the questions:

1. What do you think caused your heterosexuality?
2. When and how did you decide you were a heterosexual?
3. Is it possible that your heterosexuality is just a phase you may grow out of?
4. Is it possible that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?
5. Do your parents know that you are straight? Do your friends and/or roommate(s) know? How did they react?
6. Why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? Can’t you just be who you are and keep it quiet?
7. Why do heterosexuals feel compelled to seduce others into their lifestyles?
8. A disproportionate majority of child molesters are heterosexual. So you consider it safe to expose children to heterosexual teachers?
9. With all the societal support marriage receives, the divorce rate is spiraling. Why are there so few stable relationships among heterosexuals?
10. Statistics show that lesbians have the lowest incidence of sexually transmitted diseases. Is it really safe for a woman to maintain a heterosexual lifestyle and run the risk of disease and pregnancy?
11. Considering the menace of overpopulation, how could the human race survive if everyone were heterosexual?
12. Would you want your child to be heterosexual, knowing the problems that s/he would face?

Now I will turn this over to my husband’s reactions since he was a former public school teacher himself.

“This is their definition of critical thinking skills? When kids aren’t taught how to budget, they push this stupidity on them? I’ll answer the questions for the kid.

1. Genetics
2. Conception
3. No, it is hardwired.
4. No, it is and always has been normal for the entirety of the human race.
5. Yes. Yes. It is expected. Silly thing called genetics and propagation of the species.
6. I don’t. I do. What is the point? The only ones flaunting it were trained to be immoral by teachers like you.
7. We don’t have to. 98% already are. Human history, basic biology, do you need to attend a sex education class?
8. Disproportionate? I would expect the proportions to be 98% heterosexual vs 2% homosexual. Anything outside of that would be disproportionate. I’m not concerned if a teacher wants to stick their genitalia into someone else’s crap. I’m more concerned if a teacher is spewing crap like this out of their mouth and has it swimming in their head.
9. Because of immorality being pushed in the public schools and media by individuals and groups like you. You took the Bible out and all the immoral stuff skyrocketed. This isn’t rocket science.
10. You really need to attend a sex education class if you can’t understand the basics of male and female reproduction. The guys have the plugs. The women have the outlets. It is kinda hard to make two outlets mingle. The risk of disease is really low in a solid marriage and pregnancy isn’t a disease. Why are we having this ridiculous discussion?
11. Uh, nearly everyone is. If you want to be the first to go, you are welcome to remove yourself from the population.
12. Yes, then I would homeschool my children because of the problem of public school.

What does any of this have to do with an English class? This poorly thought out exercise wouldn’t make it into a debate class. How can critical thinking skills be taught when critical thinking skills weren’t used to write the lesson plan? These are bogus and obviously leading questions designed to manipulate a student’s position. It is no wonder that most kids by 10th grade will not participate as they think the teachers are a joke.

Here is a critical thinking exercise for the teacher. Please explain to the class how choosing to unzip your pants and stick your genitals into an orifice or butt designed expel waste full of bacteria and rotting food is remotely smart or natural especially since that act rips and tears the inside. How is that better than just keeping your pants zipped? Why should our system and taxpayers be burdened with the costs (especially medical and legal costs) of a lifestyle that has no benefit to society? Explain how choosing to unzip your pants and choosing to put your genitalia in an orifice not designed for entry is the same as being born Asian, African, European, Native American, male or female.

The students should walk out of the class in protest.”

Well, hubby will not insult an individual but he will point out when actions or concepts are dumb. And if they can’t take the criticism, that’s their problema.

Thanks for reading,

Anah

Note: Thanks to hubby for answering the questions above. :)
