Contours Lite Stroller Review

Countours Lite Stroller

One of my friends was so kind as to send us a secret gift in the mail. It was a Contours Lite Stroller. If you don’t know, I’ve got 2 little ones but we only had one stroller that seated one kid. With my eldest daughter, two strollers unlock what we can do so thanks a bunch.

The details that I like about this stroller are the ease of use and its weight. I have my strengths and weaknesses like anyone else. One of mine is figuring out the mechanical side of things so the ability to easily set up and collapse a stroller is crucial lest I am forced to call in the hubby. He figured it out in a few seconds then showed me. Set up is ultra simple. Fold the seat down and push the handle back until it clicks.

The other part is I am fairly strong for my size. The thing is 20% of my body weight is the same as two gallons of milk so my size limits what I can toss around. For this stroller, it isn’t an issue. It truly is lightweight and very easy for someone my size to handle, collapse, and put in the back of the mini-van.

This was a great gift and will be put to use as it already has been. I do not have anything bad to say about it so far. If I find something, I’ll post an update in the future. Given the nature of my middle kid, its durability will be tested.

See SAW Danda Do

See Saw Danda o Kandado  Do is a fun game to play when you have a little one. Unfortunately, my little one is rapidly growing out of being a little one. If I keep trying to play the game much longer, I’ll need a knee replacement surgery as I blow out my knees.

However, the key word in the title is SAW. SAW is an abbreviation for showers, acne, and weather. Now I haven’t fully researched this one yet but chime in with your experiences for all the Filipinos.

In the Philippines, we know what the weather is. Hot and humid with a daily chance of rain or really hot and humid with rain happening almost every day. As a result, we favor taking cold showers to cool off and refresh ourselves. (Not having a hot water heater might have something to do with that too.) For whatever reason, I did not get acne in the Philippines. I still have not figured out if it was due to my diet, the weather, shower patterns or what the reason was as to why I skipped out on the acne during a teen.

In my twenties and in the USA, I have gotten quite a bit of acne. In the first 3-4 years, my face was fully of those things. Of course they couldn’t be small and concealable ones but more like a white volcano range on my face. Now it seems like they come and go in two batches matching my cycle as a woman here. Does anyone else have those issues?

Being in Wisconsin though may have something to do with it. With four seasons of weather and lots of varieties from day to day, my skin goes through quite a bit more strain from the weather. In the Phils, you can adapt once and know it will be like that nearly every day. In the USA Mid-West, you have no idea what the weather will be for the day so your skin is continually adjusting. I would have a tendency to believe the weather changes do not help me to fully adjust to the climate here and avoid acne. Either that or my acne bomb was on a time delay.

I have also read that taking hot showers actually ages your skin. In the Mid-West, hot showers warm you up when it is cold for 3/4ths of the year.

So that leaves me to wonder what the proper balance of showers, acne and weather is to my Filipino skin. Maybe it was drinking herbal tea then and only restarting now? I’ll keep the research going.

Thank you,

Anah

The Parental Diet

Any halfway decent parent wants to have their child be healthy. We look out for them as best as we can by getting them helmets to protect their heads when bicycling along with elbow and knee pads to reduce the number of scraps from falling down. The list can go on all the way from prenatal care until they are out of the house.

(No it is not helpful to clean their room for them for the sake of their safety. That’s enabling bad behavior. )

We can take every precaution we can think of but still fail miserably because we forget the most crucial aspect of keeping our children healthy. That is us, the parents, being a role model of what it is to be healthy. The kids watch us and copy us all the time. If you drink alcohol, your actions are approving it. If you smoke cigarettes, they will likely smoke cigarettes. The list goes on and on. But there is one part of the list we often overlook.

Are we, the parents, eating healthy? Are we stuffing pizza and sodas down our throats or are we sticking to the salads, chicken, fruits, vegetables and drinking our share of milk and water? Or are you slamming 8 cans of  Coke or Mountain Dew a day and eating like a bird?

This is a lesson we have learned as we guide our daughters down the path of nutrition for a healthy body and healthy teeth. Yuri eats what I eat and has copied me for a long time. So I have to watch what I put in my mouth and where I eat it too. Her skills of watching and listening to anything I say or do no matter how sneaky or quiet is picked up by her.

So for the sake of my daughter and her future health, I have to eat right. I have to exercise and lead her in such things. After all, I am a parent who wants a healthy child. I’m the role model. Tag, I’m it.

Live well and make it a great day,

Anah
