What's Da Buzz?

Alas, my child is growing up and maturing. She is a joy to have in my life and at times a challenge.

No, she is not a challenge in the area of discipline but she is becoming more like her Daddy. She is picking up his sense of humor and becoming a bugger.

There are days when I am not feeling well for a variety of reasons. Whether I am just tired, ill or distracted, I have a tendency to slip with my accent. The th sounds become t and the p becomes an f just as is the standard Filipino accent.

However, my hubby is a former teacher. One of our close family friends is also a former teacher. On top of this, my hubby is her homeschool teacher. Because of his style of teaching and her raw skills, she has picked up how to read and learn the English language very quickly. So when I make a mistake with my English pronunciations, she will correct me every time. She has declared “Daddy is my teacher and I am your teacher Mommy!” Hay, ambot na lang.

In a different thing, my daughter has a very interesting point of view. Each time she has another trip to the dentist for the standard cleaning, they give out those temporary tattoos which you apply using water. We have made it very clear that she is to never get a regular permanent tattoo for a number of reasons. But the temporary ones are just for fun.

However, she has shifted to wanting them to be placed upside down either on the side of her calf or on her forearm. I was curious as to why and got one of the best answers I have ever heard. You can see the tattoo in the picture below.

Why does she do this? “When I have Daddy put in on upside down, then it looks the right side up when I look down at it.”

The joys of her mind give me more to think about all the time.
