1 Comment The Last Day in Politics
Politics in the USA is quite similar to politics elsewhere just with a bigger budget and more at stake. Today is March 4th and by the end of the day and the end of 4 more primaries, this may mark the final stage of Hillary Clinton’s run at the Presidency. With Ohio and Texas voting today, it marks the closing phases in the presidential nominee time as those two states are two of the biggest populations left to vote.
I have heard from some who declared that the USA is not ready for a woman being the President hence why they will not vote for Hillary Clinton. Well, those who I heard it from either didn’t live here in the USA when the Clintons were in the White House or didn’t care. I am in that group who didn’t live here then. I was in school in the Philippines finishing high school and college. I didn’t care who the President of the USA was or what they did. I was trying to pass my math classes.
So instead of commenting on my own, I decided to ask people who lived here and clearly remembered the Clintons. It turns out that Bill and Hillary Clinton divided the country with their actions during his term as President. Some are so opposed to the choices, conduct, and actions both personally and politically that those two made that those offended people would never vote for Hillary Clinton no matter what. Those same voters went to their presidential nominee elections just to vote for Obama to make certain Hillary wouldn’t have a shot at the Presidency. They do not plan on voting for Barack Obama in the main election but they were just that opposed to Hillary Clinton.
When I asked, it had nothing to do with Mrs. Hillary Clinton’s gender. It was all about who she was and what she has done. The best comparison I heard was – ask someone who lived through the times of Imelda Marcos and what did Filipinos think of her. Before we make a mistake and take a stance on a topic, it is best to be informed from those who lived through the events surrounding any given topic.
The general conclusion of those I talked to on Hillary Clinton: They want her gone from politics. The reasons vary but the emotions are strong. Is the USA ready for a woman to be President? I do not know. But the answer I got is an emphatic – Not her!
You got it right, girl! Great post!
