Are You Ready For Some Football?

[ad#inlinkunit]

You know what I’m talking about. Football is the sport where you have a team of players chasing after a ball to get it into a net.

Were you thinking of the American Football version? Sorry, I’ve banned talk about it in my household until the issues about a certain Green Bay Packer or the one-who-shall-not-be-named (in my home) is resolved and done. Menopause is normally reserved for women. That is enough on that topic.

Instead of talking about how two sets of 11 guys getting suited up in armor and smashing into each other chasing an oblong ball, I would much rather focus on the healthy benefits of the other game of Football.

First, this develops awesome leg muscle strength as you have to keep on running up and down the field. Your dexterity is improved as well as your other fine body control skills are improved as you avoid touching the ball with your hands while pulling off some fancy footwork.

Second, can you think of a more fun way of developing your cardiovascular skills? Spending an hour or two running back and forth chasing a ball so you can kick it is just so awesome. Okay, maybe it isn’t that awesome. I like sports but I prefer sports like rock climbing, bicycling or badminton.

Badminton helps to refine your reflexes and your eye hand coordination. Also, you are much less likely to get injured while playing it. Lastly, it is just a fun one on one or pairs game.

For the cardiovascular, I’ll take rock climbing to develop my muscles for the full body and not just one primary set of muscles. If my leg gets bashed, it will because I slipped and not someone else’s cleats in my shin. Also, bicycle riding is awesome as we have some great nature trails very close by to our home. That helps develop the cardio as well as toning those thighs and my butt. Nice fresh air on a scenic tour sounds like the perfect relaxing exercise to me.

Now that leaves me with one problem though. What sport do I do when the snowflakes are flying and the guys in gear are crashing into each other on a Sunday? Oh yeah, we cut cable so my hubby, daughter and I will have to figure it out together. Snowball fights, building forts, snow angels and more, the list is endless of fun things to do.

Set 1, Set 2, let’s go on a hike!!
