3 Comments Meme? What is that?
My 6 year old daughter knows how to read and she often asks me to define a specific word that she never came across before. Three days ago, she asked me “Mama, What is Meme?” I wasn’t expecting her question so I answered that it is about “memory”. Then I just open a can of worms. I have to answer a series of question from her because of how I define “meme” to her.
So what is “Meme” anyway?
In the world of blogging and personal web sites, it is a list of questions that you read somewhere else. You pick and decide to answer these questions. Someone else sees them, invites you to do it and posts them online. The meme goes on and on and on over the internet.
Meme is fun. You come up with questions then have your friends answer it for you. There are things that we don’t know about that person. When they answer it, you will be surprise how interesting their characters are.
By some other definitions, memes are spread and circulate around the internet. People write about something they see on one blog and the next person does the same. There are people who answer it the way they want it to be. Others change the story or omit the questions like I do hehe.
Eventually, bloggers decided they were going to creating weekly questionnaires (memes) and post them once or twice a week. Some are monthly, a few are daily and some are always there. The norm is you get 6 other people to do the same meme and they have to get eight or more people (and so on). That’s why Meme is so popular these days. My take, I like reading a blog that has meme entries. You get to know the person behind the blog. Meme’s always give me things to write about that I would have never thought of writing before. Yes, it does take a lot of time to answer the question but it’s definitely fun. Now, I have to catch up on posting those meme’s online from my friends.
I haven’t been lucky enough to get tagged with those “in depth” memes. I do find memes fun also.
