No Comments Laws not Anarchy
As a follow up post to my prior comments on the issues with the middle school in Maine, I will share with you a very good article on Wake Up America. On there, one of the comments was unfortunately a typical response you find today of a rather strong left leaning ideas. So this entry is for a dual purpose. First is to underline how incredibly damaging these current concepts are. Second, this country is based on laws and a system. It is past time to get back to following it.
In the comments section of the link above a rather strongly left leaning commentator stated we had to come up with a solution to help with the 7 pregnant middle school girls in Maine out of their predicament. Then he went on a rant against parents in the normal clap trap that comes spewing out. I’ll omit the first paragraph as the content is of no use to an intelligent discourse. Feel free to follow the link and read it if you wish.
“There were 7 pregnant middle school students in Maine last year. As is often the case with children burdened by ultra-strict, intolerant parents, young people are encouraged to confide in someone of authority (doctors, nurses, counselors, even police) if they have problems, and they have a right to do so without fear of retribution from violent, intolerant parents and this is as it should be. Your opinions matter only insofar as you might offer a reasonable alternative. You don’t. Therefore, the only real “common sense” out here is giving these very few children an option to rise above their predicaments.”
Before I go on, I need to point out the severe errors in this thought process. In every class level in public school about 10% or less will engage in activities the remaining 90% know are a dead end in life. In my time in high school, that group was called the “dirts” as the majority of the students knew if they continued on that path they would destroy their lives and garner no value greater than dirt. Not surprisingly, many of them did exactly that. They engaged in sex, some of the females were pregnant early and often. Those girls were known as sluts and whores and future drop-outs. The guys were involved in Grand Theft Auto, numerous fights and all dealt with drugs to some extent. They were known as future members of the penitentiary system. By the age of 30, most had a lengthy criminal record or were dead. When I was a teacher, the pattern held. It does everywhere. The terms change but the actions stay the same.
You CANNOT help someone that does not want to be helped. They will NOT change until they want to change. It starts and ends with the choices of the individual. Government can never change a person. But they can enforce the laws protecting the rights of others.
To continue down this path of trying to make the life easier for those who do not value it is ignoring a staple part of our system of government. On the Federal level, we follow the US Constitution. On the State level, each State follows their respective Constitution. From there, all laws at each level must comply with the respective Constitutions as the Constitutions the supreme law of the land in each region. If it does not comply, then it is not a valid law. We do not get to pick and choose which laws to follow because one or another might hurt the feelings of someone. If they are committing a crime as defined the laws of the state, there is a solution already in place. Is it perfect? Of course not.
But it does not matter if 10%, 0.3% or 0.01% are doing something self destructive. It happens and has happened all throughout history. Deal with it. Enough of this my way or you are wrong garbage.
To point this out to the commentator who asserted..
“children burdened by ultra-strict, intolerant parents, young people are encouraged to confide in someone of authority (doctors, nurses, counselors, even police) if they have problems.”
Let me rephrase his statement if I may. Children are burdened by parents who do not want their children to be self-destructive sluts and criminals are wrong. So of course, the children have to turn to authority figures that are required by most state laws to report any illegal activity regarding activities to or by minors lest they kiss their careers and licenses goodbye.
This is a land based on laws. Not a feel-good anarchy fighting to make self-destructive choices good and reward criminal behavior.
