They say hindsight is 20-20. If you do not know what that phrase means, I’ll explain it on my next Vested Wisdom post. If you do know what it means, you will be feeling my pain shortly.
I have posted on my blog about our mini-garden that we have or had here. Unfortunately, there are others who decided to help themselves to our flowers and the bulbs underneath the ground. No, this act was not done by some unfriendly neighbor or unknowing kid digging in our garden while we were gone.
We lost 6 Asiatic Lilies and their bulbs to the creatures of the night. Nope, not bats or snakes but that is when the rabbits, deer, raccoons and the chipmunks go to work. The chipmunks are almost all the time but there were no holes underneath the bulbs.
The hindsight comes in finding out about deFence animal repellent. Had we used the product, our Asiatic Lilies would still be here today more than likely. Now if they would make a satellite dish installer repellent, that could keep the rest of our flower garden safe.
As it stands, organic repellents are beneficial in other ways as well. If you go for the non-organic type, some of them may end up with a particularly bad reaction to other flowers you may have. In other words, you may kill off one kind of flowers to protect a different kind. Organic trumps the chemicals on that. I also would not have anything on my conscience about contaminating the ground water supply either.
