No matter what your stance is regarding the USA, the government, people, culture or whatever, there are so many willing to sue for any little thing that at times it seems the USA will be done in by the legal system it has created.
Running a business requires a person to acquire the proper employees that fit their company. The proper fit is quite simply someone who will do the job duties without trying to do what they want to do instead. It is getting more and more difficult to find candidates with a strong work ethic, willing to follow directions (provided the directions are not contradictory) , not focus on office politics and actually tell the truth.
That requires the hiring person to do an employee screening but calling the prior or existing employers often nets very little information as those companies are afraid to give their opinion about an employee or former employee as that employee might sue them. So how do you get past the legal mess to make certain you are hiring a quality employee that will not end up ruining your company too?
You could go through a recruiter but that also carries with it an expense. Or you could hire out the services of a company to do an employment background check at an extent you may not be allowed to do in your position.
During this time when you can be sued if you do something or sued if you don’t, it may just pay off if you have an Employers Reference Source to turn to. Life in this USA can get to me so complicated thanks to the lawyers.
